Description
Polycycle Acousorb is an acoustic insulation batt made from recycled PET, designed to fill stud partitions, suspended ceilings and service voids. It is available in two densities — 32 and 48 kg/m³ — and three thicknesses: 50, 75 and 90 mm.
How Acoustic Batts Reduce Noise Between Rooms
An empty stud wall carries speech from room to room and drums when knocked. Filling the cavity with an absorbing material removes that resonant air space — the step that turns a partition on paper into one that actually delivers privacy. Because the batt stays sealed inside the wall for the life of the building, it has to stay in place, stay dry and leave the steel framing around it untouched.
Key Benefits
- Two densities, one system — 32 kg/m³ for general partitions, 48 kg/m³ where acoustic requirements are higher. Same sizes, same installation method.
- Thermal performance too — λ 0.038 – 0.049 W/m·K to ASTM C518, so one layer meets both acoustic and thermal requirements.
- Safe for steel framing — non-corrosive to steel to ASTM C1617 and low water vapour sorption to ASTM C1104.
- Install once, forget it — no delamination (ASTM C167) and no fungal growth (ASTM C1338), so nothing inside the wall needs to be revisited.
- Healthy indoor air — no mineral fibre, no chemical binder and TVOC not detected.
Applications
- Stud partitions and party walls
- Suspended ceiling voids
- Service and riser shafts
- Floor and ceiling assemblies
- Offices, hotels, apartments, schools and healthcare facilities

Independently measured: NRC 0.72 for a 50 mm batt at 32 kg/m³ (ASTM C423 / ISO 354). Declared values are criteria from Capiworld’s internal product standard. Values above 1.00 arise from specimen edge effects in the reverberation-room method and indicate Class A absorption. Request the test report for the configuration you are specifying.

Fire performance note: Class A under ASTM E84 is a US test classification describing the tested surface-burning behaviour of the finished product. The material is an organic polyester fibre and is not classified as non-combustible. AS/NZS 1530.3 results are indices from that test method and are not a Group Number under AS 5637.1. Confirm the requirements for your building with your certifier or fire engineer.
Specification Clause for Architects
Acoustic infill to partitions and ceiling systems shall be ECO-AEROGELS™ Polycycle Acousorb ___ mm thick at ___ kg/m³: a thermally bonded polyester fibre batt containing minimum 80 % recycled PET, free of chemical binder, non-corrosive to steel to ASTM C1617, manufactured by Capiworld Company Limited. Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose 32 or 48 kg/m³?
32 kg/m³ suits most general partitions. Choose 48 kg/m³ where the acoustic requirement is higher, such as meeting rooms, apartments and healthcare spaces.
Is Acousorb the same as an acoustic wall panel?
No. Acousorb sits inside the wall or ceiling to reduce sound passing between rooms. To reduce echo inside a room, use an exposed panel such as PureSpace Acoustic. Where privacy between spaces matters, specify both.
Can Acousorb also provide thermal insulation?
Yes. With λ 0.038 – 0.049 W/m·K, a single layer contributes to both acoustic and thermal performance.
How to Order
Capiworld supplies to order. Pricing depends on thickness, R-value, panel size, surface finish and order quantity, so we quote each project individually rather than listing a single price.
